Tradition on St. John`s day - Tradition am Johannistag

We made a very nice programm around St. John`s day.

First at new moon we wanted to clean us. As it was a rainy day we went all in the evening out to dance naked in the rain and get cleaned ourself.

The time before and after new moon is also the best time to collect herbs. At this time drug in the herb is the strongest. I collected what is growing the most here. Its the wild thymian, St. John`s wort, plantain and few others.

At the St. John`s day we made a nice fire outside. Its said to jump naked over the fire to get cleaned and to be protected from disease and daemons.

It should also help to make the collected herbs stronger if you hold them close to the fire made on St. Johns day.

Wir haben ein sehr schöne Programm um den Johannistag herum gemacht.

An Neumond haben wir uns abends alle vor das Haus begeben und nackt im Regen getanzt. Das ist ein Reinigungsritual.

Die Zeit um den Neumond herum ist auch die beste Zeit um Kräuter zu sammeln, da an diesen Tagen die Droge besonders intensiv sein soll.

Ich habe die Kräuter gesammelt, die am häufigsten bei uns Vorkommen. Das sind Thymian (Quendel), Spitzwegerich, Johanniskraut und noch ein paar andere.

Am Johannistag sind wir dem Brauch eines Johannisfeuers gefolgt. Dazu haben wir am Abend ein Feuer entzündet. Und nackt über das Feuer springen soll auch eine reinigende Wirkung haben und vor Krankheiten und Dämonen schützen.

Es soll auch helfen die vorher gesammelten Kräuter an das Johannisfeuer zu halten, damit die Wirkung noch verstärkt wird.
